I thought this topic thread might be a nice way for some constructive criticism. I will start it off......What happened to the garbage bins? I see pads poured for what I assume are the permanent bins, but in the meantime where are the fisherman going to though their junk?
The bulk of the garbage bins went away, just like the porta-potties, for the "down season". There are still garage bins at general locations of the libary, boat ramp and housing shelter house. The concrete pads are for benches to be installed. The fisherman who continue to leave their junk, similar to all spring/summer long when "the boaters" had to clean up after them, are providing proof for who truly cares for the riverfront and want to see its success.
I guess while I await the answer on that, I was wondering about removing the rocks that washed into the eddy on the river right of Dam Drop? They have created a fast and generally unfriendly micro elevator eddy. I am sure we could get enough volunteer man/woman power to get the job done.
Thanks Steve, I was unaware of that. I hope the City will come through! I am just thowing out here what I see, so the issues I raise most likely have already been addressed. Maybe someone (justin tracy or admin?) could post on the news section of this site or facebook these kinds of updates and information.
John, the following is by no means me trying to be an ass. I like you man!
But, what you ask is lot of social networkin'. Since I've personally written off facebook and will not tweet....I "manually" only watch a couple forums...this being one of 3 and I'm about ready to drop the other two. Isn't there a way to get tweeted or fb'd when there's a new post?
John, thanks for raising issues- feel free to call, email, stop in with additional concerns- that is the only way we know what to improve.
Since I am not in charge of the parks nor most electronic updates I only pass on the info I am charged with or know of. I think Parks is waiting for another season to see how garbage locations work out before putting in a permant ones- but you could always donate towards the cost- I could not believe how expensive vandal proof cans are! I am a leary to post on activites planned for this week until they are done so look forward to hearing soon what the City had done this week to improve the course.
Tracy, I don't mean to come of as critical or ungreatfull at all, and hope my previous posts did not come of that way. I think that the Charles City parks dept, city gov., and PRP have done tons of work and I am way late to the game. I am just hoping to help any way I can and bitching on the forum probably wasn't the way to go. So having said all that I will be looking in to possibly getting funds for a trash bin, I think I heard the figure of $1k per bin.
